The Korean War was the first battle of the Cold War and the tension on the Korean Peninsula continues to this day. The battle line moved little until an Armistice was finally reacted on July 27th, 1953. The retreat was stopped and the battle lines became static close to the original border of the 38th Parallel. The advance was halted by a massive influx of Chinese troops and the allies were quickly forced into a fighting retreat. The allies advance was extremely successful and soon they had passed the 38th Parallel and penetrated deep into North Korea. An amphibious landing at Inchon and a break out of Pusan Perimeter quickly put the North Korean troops in retreat. When the reinforcements finally arrived in large numbers the allies went on the offensive. The invasion was extremely successful and the allied troops were quickly pushed down the peninsula to an area around Pusan.
